One player spins the wheel resulting in a landed space designated by the white arrow (where the wheel stops.) The wheel may stop on a cash value, a prize (including a Free Spin or Wild Card) or a space labeled 'Lose a turn' or 'Bankrupt.' If the result is anything but the latter two, the player then requests a consonant to appear on the puzzle board. If it does not appear in the puzzle, control of the wheel shifts to the next contestant. If the letter does appear in the puzzle, he/she is credited with cash, a prize and may have the option to buy a vowel. Each player hopes to correctly identify consonants that further reveal the puzzle sequence as all attempt to crack the letter clues and be the first to exclaim "I'd like to solve the puzzle..." WHEEL OF FORTUNE has awarded more than $171 million in cash and prizes over the show's 24 years in syndication.
